Vidzeme region

The north-western part of Latvian is called Vidzeme with a cost line stretching from Riga in south to Estonia in north.

The region compromises the districts Alūksne, Cēsis, Gulbene, Limbaži, Madona, Ogre, Rīga, Valka and Valmiera.

We have been to many places in this region, but not all of them have found its way to our web pages yet. Some of the most significant yet are of course the capital Riga and the relaxing Jurmala. If you are more to peace and quite areas then Limbazi, Cesis and Sigulda, which at the same represent an important part of the Latvian history.

Of major events in is region (that we know of) are the yearly open-air opera in Cesis and the traditional song festival in Riga every 5th year.
